Mark Willie

Mark Willie’s plein air landscapes explore the ambiguities of the natural, the abstract and the expressive in mixed media works on paper. The drawing, painting, mark-making process emerges through the experience, contemplative or spontaneous, of the environment of which it is engaged. The work is very much part of the physicality of place. The recent paintings in this exhibition have all been done during the pandemic year.

Mark Willie is a practicing graphic designer and is Associate Program Director and professor of Graphic Design at Drexel University’s Westphal College. He divides his time between Center City Philadelphia and Greenwich, New Jersey.
